Lipofilling

Lipofilling uses the patient’s own fat to enhance breast volume or correct contour irregularities, offering a natural alternative to implants.

Ideal Candidates

  • Patients with invasive breast cancer.
  • Individuals with suspicious lymph nodes on imaging or physical exam.

Procedure Details:

  • Fat is harvested via liposuction from areas such as the abdomen, thighs, or flanks.
  • The fat is purified and then carefully injected into targeted areas of the breast to improve shape, volume, or symmetry.
  • Often used to refine results after breast reconstruction or cosmetic surgery, or to treat radiation-induced tissue damage.

Medical Considerations:

Benefits:

  • Accurate staging of breast cancer.
  • Helps in planning additional treatments.
  • Reduces the risk of cancer recurrence.

Recovery:

  • Mild swelling and bruising at the donor and injection sites.
  • Most patients return to light activities in a few days and resume full activities within 2-3 weeks.
  • Final results are visible after 3-6 months as the body adjusts to the grafted fat.
